Relationships, resources and revelations ~ How to work with the Full Moon in Taurus

25th October: PST 21:11 October 26th: EST 00:11 | GMT 04:11

As we embrace the magic of October and head towards Samhain, the Full Hunter’s Moon in Taurus arrives to illuminate both what grounds us but also what needs to fall away. After a fiery Harvest Moon last month, the Hunter’s Moon invites us to get clear on the resources we need around us as the winter months beckon. Let’s explore this powerful Full Moon together…

In this blog, we’ll unpack:

The energy of the Taurus Full Moon

The sign of ‘the bull’, Taurus, takes us to grounded, resourced realms. This Venus-ruled earth sign can help us to appreciate a sense of stability and security, slowing down life’s pace to a plentiful, pleasurable rhythm that beats in time with the natural world.

The Moon is thought to be comfortably ‘exalted’ in the sign of Taurus, elevated and enjoying a felt sense of intuition. However, a Full Moon in this sign reminds us of the dual energy at play; it is the tension of the Moon in Taurus and the Sun in Scorpio across the heavens that creates this Full Moon. This is a push and pull between energy that sustains (Taurus) and the inevitable transformative cycles of life (Scorpio). Whilst a Full Moon in Taurus can help focus our attention on what grounds us, it can also illuminate where we need to release our grip and let go.

Ways to work with this Full Moon

Our Full Moon this cycle rises as Venus, the ruler of this Moon, is still in retrograde. After forming a cazimi with the Sun and then moving from Scorpio and back into Libra - Venus has been on quite the journey! Meanwhile the Moon is making an out of sign conjunction with asteroid, Chiron, now opposed by Venus. Within this mix of energies, Pluto, tightly aspected to the Moon, brings its own special brand of purging and detoxification to the table. It’s all going on!

So, how does this translate into daily life?

If you have been working through relationship issues over the past three weeks (during Venus retrograde) what this Moon illuminates may feel uncomfortable, but it could provide important information on what needs to shift or fall away now. Whatever feels stagnant or ready for change may be highlighted around healing old wounds or a sense of needing a new perspective on a past situation.

This doesn’t feel like a Moon for figuring out all the answers. After all, the trickster planet of the zodiac, Mercury, has just turned retrograde, fogging up the windscreen a little. However, perhaps it is a Moon for realisation and recognition of where things need to change. We may need to consider what genuinely sustains us and where we are holding onto something just because it feels safe or familiar.

Simple ways to work with the Full Moon in Taurus ~

  • Embrace the elements: Give yourself a screen break and get outside! Take a walk and connect with the natural world, away from modern distractions. Grounding is key.
  • Practise gratitude: Spend a few minutes journaling about/listing where you feel abundant and fully resourced in your world to attract more of the same – energy flows where attention goes!
  • Awaken the senses: Cook a delicious meal, book a massage treatment or enjoy a warm bath with sumptuous oils. Taurus energy welcomes a touch of luxury and time out.
  • Pay attention to your relationships: Which relationships help you feel grounded and restored? Then consider the ones which may feel stagnant or require extra energy. Where are you ready to strengthen connections and where might you be ready to let go?
  • Release to renew with a full moon ritual: Samhain is just around the corner, so this is a potent week for release. Make a list of what you’d like to let go of, gather your trusted circle around a fire pit and, taking care, safely burn your release lists under the light of the moon.
