Clarity, Connection and New Beginnings: A Guide to the New Moon in Gemini

June 14th: PDT 19:54 | EDT 22:54 | June 15th: BST 03:54

As we begin a new lunar cycle and move towards the solstice, our June New Moon in the astrological sign of Gemini can help us set considered intentions. If you are ready to instigate change on your own terms, this airy New Moon can help carry your wishes far and wide. Let’s explore this opportunity together.

In this blog, we’ll unpack:

Ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, Gemini illuminates our capacity for learning, sharing knowledge and flexible thinking. Depicted by the twins in astrology, Gemini energy recognises the dual nature of life and that two things can be true at once. Known for being adaptable and sociable, Gemini takes its qualities from where Gemini season falls in the year: the transitional period from spring to summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

What does a New Moon in Gemini bring?

A New Moon in Gemini asks us to explore making new connections with others through self-expression, collaboration and the power of communication. It is a time to be curious, and to welcome mindset shifts, but also to be discerning about the words we use and the communication we take notice of. It is the perfect opportunity to pay attention to how our words can help manifest our dreams.

How can I tune into this New Moon?

After the Blue Moon in Sagittarius, which brought us a second chance to release what felt heavy, June’s New Moon in Gemini gives us a way to articulate how we are feeling now and create change. Mercury, the ruler of this New Moon, is in watery Cancer, so whilst Mercurial logic and rationality can help us some of the way, listening to our intuition still has an important part to play.

Uranus is also in Gemini alongside this New Moon. This suggests that if breakthroughs and lightbulb moments are what we are ready for, we have planetary support to let inspiration in. However, to lessen the sometimes scattered or unsettling energy of Uranus in this sign, get clear on what you want and set your intentions with presence of mind. Amidst all of this, don’t ignore what your intuition may also be pulling you towards. Both logic and emotional connection can give you the information you need to move forward. Head and heart folks!

The cycle ahead…

Within this lunar cycle we will see the beginning of a Mercury retrograde and a major planetary move with Jupiter entering Leo. This suggests that setting strong, clear intentions at the New Moon can help us feel centred ahead of these shifts. Although, be mindful that you may need to tweak them or adjust them; as Mercury retrograde sneaks in halfway through the cycle, asking us to reconsider and review. You could even set an intention around cultivating flexibility and an open mind this month, as it’s likely we will need both!

Five ways to honour the New Moon in Gemini:

  • Express yourself mindfully: Think before you speak under this New Moon and as the cycle continues. Make your words count. Sit with the idea that you are creating your reality every time you communicate. As Florence Scovel Shinn said, ‘Your word is your wand.’
  • Invite inspiration: What lights you up? Make time to do something that feels different, new or exciting. Let’s spark some Gemini curiosity.
  • Take a digital detox: If you are feeling that the energy is too busy and it’s time to switch off and ‘just be’ – give yourself a screen break and time away from information overload. A relaxing walk in nature or some meditation might be the perfect antidote to calm the mind and let the lightbulb moments happen.
  • Brainstorm with others: If you have a new venture that you’d like feedback on, or you need a fresh perspective on something, the New Moon can help you connect with others and bounce ideas back and forth.
  • Ground yourself to set your intentions: This is a beautiful New Moon for taking time to ground yourself by journaling and setting considered intentions for the cycle ahead.

Light a candle, get comfy, and grab your journal…here are some prompts to explore:

  • What three actions help me to feel centred when life gets busy?
  • What one word can I carry into the month ahead with me as my anchor?
